1. Online registration and login setup
The application process begins at the official AIIMS examination website (www.aiimsexams.ac.in). First of all, you’ll need to click on “Apply Online for NORCET 10” and provide basic personal information including name, parents’ names, date of birth, category, and contact details. Once registered, the system generates unique login credentials (Candidate ID and password) sent to your registered email and mobile number. Upon first login, you must change your password before proceeding to subsequent steps.
2. Filling qualification and experience details
Subsequently, you’ll enter your educational qualifications, including your nursing degree details, university name, and graduation dates. Additionally, you must provide your State Nursing Council registration number along with the issuance date. The system will prompt you to input both permanent and correspondence addresses before moving forward.
3. Uploading documents and images
This critical step requires uploading three specific images:
Photograph: Color with white background, size between 50-100 KB
Signature: Clear signature on white paper within a 6×3 cm box, size between 10-50 KB
Left thumb impression: Blue/black ink on white paper within a 4×3 cm box, size between 10-50 KB
All images must be in JPG/JPEG/GIF/PNG format with 200 dpi scanner resolution.

SC/ST candidates: ₹2,400

After successful payment, save the receipt for future reference.
5. Choosing exam city and final submission
Notably, you must select your preferred examination center from available cities. Choose carefully as this selection cannot be changed later. The city availability list displays real-time seat status at various centers.
6. Correction window and printout
Following the application deadline, AIIMS provides a correction window (typically 3-4 days) for making necessary edits. Meanwhile, for the NORCET 10 cycle, this window will allow correcting rejected images and other deficiencies. Print your completed application form after final submission as proof of successful registration.
Exam Pattern, Syllabus, and Selection Process
Understanding the NORCET 10 examination structure is vital for creating an effective preparation strategy alongside knowing the aiims nursing exam date 2026. The two-stage examination process thoroughly evaluates your nursing knowledge and practical skills.
NORCET 10 exam pattern for Stage-I and Stage-II
Stage-I (Preliminary) serves as a qualifying test consisting of 100 MCQs to be completed in 90 minutes. This preliminary stage includes 20 questions on General Knowledge & Aptitude and 80 questions covering nursing subjects. The paper divides into 5 sections with 18 minutes allocated per section. Each section automatically closes after the time limit, requiring you to manage your time effectively.
In contrast, Stage-II (Main) features 160 MCQs with 180 minutes duration. This advanced assessment includes case scenario-based questions designed to test nursing skills competency. The paper splits into 4 sections with 45 minutes per section and 40 questions each. Both stages apply negative marking of 1/3 mark for each incorrect answer.
Key topics in the NORCET 10 syllabus
The comprehensive syllabus primarily covers:
Nursing Subjects: Human Anatomy & Physiology, Community Health Nursing, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Midwifery & Gynecological Nursing, Fundamentals of Nursing, and Psychiatric Nursing.
General Knowledge & Aptitude: Geography, Indian History, Current Affairs, Mathematical concepts including Time and Distance, Probability, and Ratio and Proportion.
Selection stages and final merit list
The selection process occurs in sequential stages beginning with Stage-I as the qualifying round. Qualifying percentiles for Stage-I are 50 for UR/EWS, 45 for OBC, and 40 for SC/ST candidates. PwBD candidates receive an additional 5 percentile relaxation.
Upon clearing Stage-I, candidates proceed to Stage-II. The final merit list derives exclusively from Stage-II performance. Importantly, seat allocation follows merit rank and candidates’ choice preferences. Once allocated a seat, joining is mandatory as failure results in candidature cancelation for that NORCET cycle.
Conclusion
Preparing for the AIIMS NORCET 10 exam requires dedication and careful planning, especially with the 2026 exam dates now officially announced. Therefore, starting your preparation journey early gives you a significant advantage over competitors. The two-stage examination process demands thorough understanding of both nursing fundamentals and specialized knowledge.
Checking your eligibility before beginning preparation saves valuable time and effort. Your educational qualifications, age criteria, and registration status must align with AIIMS requirements for a successful application. Additionally, gathering all necessary documents well before the application deadline prevents last-minute complications.
Following the six-step application process carefully ensures your candidature remains valid throughout the selection procedure. Each step, from initial registration to final submission, plays a crucial role in your application journey. Consequently, meticulous attention to details such as photograph specifications and exam city selection significantly impacts your testing experience.
Understanding the exam pattern helps create an effective study strategy. The time-constrained sectional format certainly requires practice and time management skills. Given the negative marking scheme, accuracy becomes just as important as knowledge depth.
AIIMS NORCET represents a gateway to prestigious nursing careers across India. Your preparation strategy should include regular practice tests, comprehensive subject reviews, and staying updated through the official AIIMS website. Accordingly, marking these important dates on your calendar and working backward to create a study schedule maximizes your chances of success in this competitive examination.
